Mackevision was commissioned to create films to present this first purely electric concept vehicle as part of the premiere of the “Mission E” concept study from Porsche at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt in September 2015. With the four seater, which embodies sustainable mobility, digitalisation and urbanisation and is equipped with a broad range of ground-breaking innovations, the manufacturer aims to write a new chapter in sports car history. The project was managed by the Mackevision Medien Design GmbH headquarters in Stuttgart and also involved the branches in Hamburg and Munich.
The film depicts the vision of pure electro-mobility embodied by the Porsche Mission E concept study. The audience experiences the computer generated (CG) vehicle and a 360° view. Both the exterior and the instep area of the concept car were full to realistically created in four films with 4k resolution and a 50 fps frame rate. One central challenge lay in the extremely short period of time available for the implementation: only seven weeks. The films were completely computer-generated using a real environment in southern Spain as a basis. The original environment was visually enhanced with matte painting elements by inserting an urban backdrop which contained elements from Los Angeles, for example. The vehicle’s ground-breaking innovations were educationally presented by means of motion graphics elements. A transparent chassis, motion graphics and demanding animations visually demonstrated specific performance characteristics.
The film’s audio design contained elements composed specifically by Yessian Hamburg and performed by the Prague Symphony Orchestra. The grading was carried out by Scanwerk Munich. In addition to the initial films, three further films were created as a web special on a holographic basis.
The awards ceremony takes place on 11th May 2016 in Hamburg.
